Course Description and Targets: Students will learn the basics of reading music and explore Early Classical Composers.  

Course Description and Targets: Students will be immersed in the US Music culture and cover genres from early Folk music to jazz and beyond!  Students will learn how to organize their schoology course and find materials for research.  

Students will have the opportunity to use Garage Band to create music in most of the genres.

Rules & Band Procedures

1. Absolutely no talking while the teacher instructing.
2. On a rehearsal cut off all playing stops instantly.
3. Be prepared, daily, with your pencil, music folder, and instrument
4. Be in your assigned seat after you are in the room.
5. This is a music room.  No inappropriate sounds are allowed.
6. Exit:
   • Return chair to tape markers on the floor.
   • Wait for your row to be called in order to dismiss.
   • Put your instrument and music away properly

Behavior is monitored daily and records are taken. 

Consequences for not following the rules are as follows:

• 1^st offense: You will be asked to sit out of rehearsal, you might miss classwork
• 2^nd offense: Lunch Detention and a call home
• 3^rd offense: Disciplinary Referral and a call home
• 4^th offense: Possible Dismissal from the band program
