Course Description: Basics of music notation including Note Values, Meter Signatures, Treble Clef Staff Note Names, playing and creating rhythms in 2/4, 4/4 and ¾ meter signatures.

Objectives/Goals/Targets: 

1. Students will be able to identify note values and read simple rhythms using rhythm solfege.

2. Students will be able to identify the line and space notes of the Treble Clef Staff and read simple tonal patterns using solfege.

Course Description: Students will begin learning or continue learning about singing in a large group. Emphasis will be placed on personal progress toward sight-singing, diaphragmatic breathing, vocal tone, singing posture, diction and following the conductor.

Objectives/Goals/Targets:

1. Students will be able to sight-sing short musical passages using Do, Re, and Mi.

2. Students will be able to identify the meter of a piece of music.

3. Students will be able to navigate a 2-part or 3- part choral score.
